Hickory dickory agatha christie7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() So the play-within-a-play is designed as a trap for Claudio. ![]() Wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the king. May be the devil, and the devil hath power Play something like the murder of my fatherīefore mine uncle. Hamlet wagers that if the ghost's story is true, Claudio will not be able to help reacting in a way that betrays his guilty conscience: In that play, Gonzago is murdered in exactly the same way that the ghost claims he himself was: his wife's lover poured poison in his ear. ![]() So to verify the ghost's story, Hamlet comes up with the plan of staging The Murder of Gonzago before Claudio. Hamlet's father's ghost has told him that Claudio is a murderer, but Hamlet worries that perhaps the ghost is an evil spirit deliberately misleading him. In order to understand why The Mousetrap is an appropriate title for Christie's play, let's look at the play-within-a-play in Hamlet. In fact, it refers to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, in which Hamlet cryptically calls the play depicting the murder of the king, ‘The Mousetrap’. The stage play had to be renamed on the insistence of another producer, Emile Littler, who had used the name on stage before the Second World War, and it was Agatha Christie’s son-in-law, Anthony Hicks who suggested the new title. The story was adapted from a radio play, Three Blind Mice, written for the Royal family in 1947. Yannis shared this information from the official Agatha Christie website: As and have said in the comments, the play's original title Three Blind Mice had to be changed because there was an earlier play with the same title. ![]() ![]() The book offers solutions to these issues at hand, and offers suggestions for better recordkeeping. ![]() Written by registrars, Buck and Allman detail the mysteries involving old loans, works without record, or objects without identification. Still others address the ethical aspects of keeping or "deaccessioning" works that were not the museum's objects in the first place. ![]() Other scholars include statues for individual states that could help museums who are burdened with old loans, since some states address old loan laws differently. Some of the sources below provide protocol for registrars and other museum staff officials to implement. Old loans consume needed storage space, staff time, and monetary resources. The point at stake is that museums have a legal responsibility to care for all its objects, and it must return those not in its collection to the rightful owner after the lending time is finished. As many of the scholars note, the primary issue is not necessarily the expired loan. ![]() The articles and books in the bibliography complied below can hopefully help museum collections, both large and small, ameliorate the issue of old loans. ![]() Tobias madden anything but fine7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() Sweet, warm and thoroughly delightful, it will quickly dance its way into your heart.' Anderson’s story, updated to include some of the new realities of social media in the lives of high schoolers, pairs spectacularly with the art of Emily Carroll. The publication of Speak’s graphic novel last year added even more to the story. Despite the tragedy she’s experienced as the victim of a sexual assault, her humor further pulls at the reader’s heart and reminds them that even those who’ve suffered something unimaginable are still three-dimensional, complex individuals. It not only still resonated, but I brought new things and gleaned fresh insights into the book, too. Her story hooked me and stayed with me throughout my teen years and my twenties, and I revisited the book again a few years ago. I flipped through, immediately captivated by Melinda’s voice on the page. ![]() The book hit shelves when I was 14, and I vividly remember heading deep into the corner of my local library and finding it on the shelf.
